USLCI Quarterly Release: Summer 2024 Update

The new release is available on the Federal LCA Commons in the NREL USLCI group repository:  https://www.lcacommons.gov/ and the update in openLCA, zolca, and JSON-LD formats can also be downloaded from the USLCI GitHub Support Content Downloads page along with the associated libraries.

 

Overview of USLCI 2024 Summer Quarter Changes:

  • Added the Federal LCA Commons U.S. Electricity Baseline repository into USLCI as a library. Documentation on using Libraries is provided here and will continue to be updated.
    • Mapped flows between the library and main database to connect Electricity Baseline flows and providers to existing USLCI exchanges.
      • Replaced the “Electricity, at grid” USLCI flow with the Electricity Baseline “Electricity, AC, 120 V” flow. 
  • Transitioned datasets using the opposite direct waste end-of-life methodology to the material flow logic allocation to enhance the consistency of end-of-life modeling.
    • Consolidated disposal flows, standardized waste and recycled material flow names, and reorganized flows into correct folders.
  • Updated existing non-road transport datasets (train, ocean freighters, barges, and aircraft) with newer emissions data from GREET, 2023.
  • Removed extraneous flow properties, sources, and actors to simplify the database.
